Crew Rules

Crews – Min of 5, Max of 28 members – Ages: 8&U, 12&U, 16&U, Adult and Parents.

Performing to your own music – Bring on the day: iPod/Phone, CD or USB.

Performance time: Min 1:50 and Max 2:30 minutes.

Breakdance/ aerial moves allowed but must be kept within the context of a street style performance.

A dancer may compete in more than 1 crew, i.e. in his own age group and any age groups above.

Props,not allowed. i.e. canes, chairs, umbrellas, etc. Jewellery must not be worn for safety.

*Beginners & Intermediate Guidelines – Crews where 2 thirds of dancers have competed anywhere 18 months plus, must compete in the Intermediate Category. 

Crews are allow up to 20% discretion with dancers just over the age category in line with other competitions. We do not encourage this, and schools will have to contact us and we will make a final decision.

Hip Hop Idol promoters reserve the right to move a crew up a category if we feel a crew has been entered incorrectly.

Duo Rules

Age Categories:6&U, 8&U, 10&U, 12&U, 14&U, 16&U, Adult and Parents.

Be sure to select the correct music for your age category.

Breakdance/ aerial moves allowed but must be kept within the context of a street style performance.

Props,not allowed. i.e. canes, chairs, umbrellas, etc. Jewellery must not be worn for safety.

Heats/ Finals: A maximum of 5 Duos will compete on stage at one time.

*Beginners & Intermediate Guidelines – Dancers who have competed anywhere 18 months plus, should be in the Intermediate Category (go by the more experienced dancer).

Hip Hop Idol promoters reserve the right to move a duo up a category if we feel a duo has been entered incorrectly.

Solo Rules

Age Categories: 6&U, 8&U, 10&U, 12&U, 14&U, 16&U, Adult and Parents.

Music played at random by the DJ.

Heats/ Rounds – Groups of up to 7 dancers will be performing on stage.

Finals – Competitors perform as previous rounds but may also be asked to perform a spotlight.

Competitors must not impede or infringe on other competitors dance space.

Competitor’s numbers must be clearly visible to the judges when performing.

Mega Crew Rules

Mega Crews – Min of 15, Max of 40 members – Dancers of any age.

Performing to your own music – Bring on the day: iPod/Phone, CD or USB.

The organisers take no responsibility for any personal injury to competitors whilst attending this street dance event. All competitors do so at their own risk with regard to health, fitness and training. The event is being filmed and the organisers reserve the right to use competitor’s names and images for any purpose for this and any future events. All competitors under the age of 18 years must have their parents permission to take part.
